Arboretum Groundskeeper

We are seeking an outdoor-loving person to help keep our trees growing strong. This role will assist with seasonal landscape maintenance in the Center’s Molly Steves Zachry Texas Arboretum at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Essential Functions

General landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, weeding, mulching, pruning, trail maintenance and basic irrigation repair.
Assists with tree planting.
Operates tools and equipment to complete tasks.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Interacts with guests and volunteers.
Monitors area for safety issues.

Qualifications

Ability to use handheld power tools, rakes, shovels, mowers, string trimmers, riding lawn mowers and leaf blowers.
Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
Must be able to engage in moderate physical activity (bending, lifting and pushing/pulling 50 pounds without assistance).
Attention to safety is essential.

Other Requirements

Possession of a current, valid Texas driver’s license.
Will be required to undergo a background check prior to being hired.

Schedule and Pay Rate

This position reports for 40 hours per week for a three-month period.
Hours are weekdays (Monday through Friday) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The pay rate is $15 per hour.
This position is temporary/seasonal, part time and benefits exempt.
