Abstract
Compares seed germination rates of Andropogon gerardii, Schizachyrium scoparium, and Sorghastrum nutans in grazed and ungrazed prairies in Illinois. Germination of S. scoparium was significantly lower than the other two species. There was also a high variability in seed viability among different populations. These results underscore the need to use local ecotypes in restoration.Suggested Citation
