Native Plants
Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?
A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.
Did you know you can access the Native Plant Information Network with your web-enabled smartphone?
Ask Mr. Smarty Plants is a free service provided by the staff and volunteers at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Title: Phytoremediation using Paspalum vaginatum
Answered by: Guy Thompson
QUESTION:
Do you know of any on-going research using Paspalum vaginatum as the prime plant (monoculture) for use in phytoremediation. Utilizing this plant in Vegetated Swales, Spreader Swales, Grassy Swales, Bioswales and/or Bioretention Basins. Looking at more efficient ways to help in operations, maintenance and whole life risk assessment of these treatment systemsANSWER:
Yes, there is a wealth of information regarding Paspalum vaginatum and phytoremediation. Too many reports to go into here. But if you Google on "Paspalum vaginatum phytoremediation" you will find web sites for quite a few of them. I believe you will find the data you need.
