Habitat: Understory shrub/tree in mixed Quercus virginiana & Juniperus ashei. Soil rocky and stoney, but with good dirt and humus.
Description: Evergreen, leaves pinnately compound, elliptic to obovate, leathery. Small tree to 3+ m high. Flowers in thick racemes of purple flowers in the papillonoides sub-family. Fruit is woody indihesent pod. Specimen w/flowers, early pods, year old pods.
