This is a landmark year for the Wildflower Center: Lady Bird Johnson would have been 100 years old on December 22, 2012, and the Texas Legislature has declared 2012 the Lady Bird Johnson Centennial Year. Please join us on April 27, 2012, for the Centennial Gala and Silent Art Auction to celebrate Lady Bird Johnson’s Centennial Anniversary! This event, “A Bouquet for Mrs. J,” will kick off the Centennial Celebration of Mrs. Johnson’s tremendous contributions to the preservation of our natural environment.

Mrs. Johnson was such an effective advocate for natural beauty and wild places that she became known as “the environmental First Lady.” She and her friend Helen Hayes founded the Wildflower Center in 1982 to formalize and continue the work she began while First Lady. As we celebrate Lady Bird Johnson’s 100th birthday and the 30th Anniversary of the Wildflower Center, our work has never been more important or more relevant.
The support of donors and volunteers like you is critical to carrying out the Wildflower Center’s mission. The money raised through our annual Gala supports our important education, research and conservation work. The Wildflower Center receives no regular support from The University of Texas, the City of Austin, or state or federal government. The Gala provides half of our annual philanthropic support, so your gift to the Wildflower Center through this premier event is vitally important.
This year will be a grand celebration of Lady Bird Johnson’s legacy. The Wildflower Center Gala and Silent Art Auction is a cost-conscious, green event that celebrates our national leadership work in environmental sustainability and showcases our beautiful native plant gardens. Please consider a gift to support our work even if you can’t attend. Help us carry Mrs. Johnson’s vision into the future by becoming a Gala table sponsor!
